How Ramsay Cares works

Our business and our people are focused on advancing three key pillars of sustainability: healthier people, stronger communities and a thriving planet.

Planet

We know that a thriving planet is important to our health and wellbeing. Our services rely on a significant amount of resources, such as energy, surgical equipment and consumables. Without thoughtful practices, these resources can cost our planet. We are focused on climate action and environmental performance across our value chain.

Community

In order to benefit our patients and the broader community, we are focused on medical research and clinical teaching and training. Our hospitals and clinics also play an important role in their local communities, from providing important social infrastructure to creating employment opportunities.

People

Without people, health care doesn’t work. Our patients, doctors and clinicians, and our team all contribute to the Ramsay community. The Ramsay Way refers to ‘people caring for people’ and this is a fundamental part of delivering our world-class services to millions of people every year.

Ramsay supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to promote peace and prosperity, while protecting our planet into the future.

The 17 goals are a call to action to achieve economic growth and address a range of social issues to end poverty. These include education, health, social protection and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection.

We also support the UN Global Compact which calls on companies to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

"We have set ambitious and long-term sustainability goals. Several of our environmental and social targets are linked to our financing model, so it’s imperative that we continue to track, measure and adjust as we progress.

Considering various short and long term goals has allowed us take on critical challenges, which will take time and collaboration to achieve."
